INDUSTRIAL CONCRETE FLOORS

According to the regulations in force in the construction industry, concrete floors are subject to high requirements. Such a coating is used in conditions of large daily traffic of people and machinery, significant loads, vibration from the operated machinery and equipment. In addition to physical effects, it should be resistant (not hygroscopic) to chemical impacts (oil, gasoline, grease, emulsions, etc.). Accordingly, industrial grade concrete floors are used:

  • In mechanical-engineering, automotive, chemical, petroleum, food industries;
  • In warehouses, in construction of large shopping areas, car parks.

This coating differs in number/quality of additives and mechanical properties. Requirements for strength, durability vary depending on the operating parameters.

Coating advantages

  • Installation on any base (ground, old screed, asphalt, etc.);
  • Long service life;
  • Environmentally friendly;
  • Low price for industrial grade concrete floor.

Disadvantages

  • Not too attractive appearance, which may not be essential for the production premises and depends on subjective perception.
  • Installation is difficult because the concrete floor installation is wet and involves use of special machinery. Concreting, setting are rather complicated operations that require time, proper control by qualified workers.
  • Cracking of the top coat, followed by dusting of the room with small particles of concrete. This happens quite often if you don't use a polymer coating over concrete base.

Industrial concrete floor pouring process

Pouring is done step by step in the following order:

  • Leveling surveying;
  • Spreading of sand and gravel substrate;
  • Soil compaction;
  • Moisture ingress protection;
  • Steel lashing;
  • Mixture pouring and leveling;
  • Final sanding with disc-type machines, "helicopters";
  •  Cutting of deformation joints, their sealing.
  • Use of special mixture to strengthen the near surface layer.
  • Application of varnish, impregnation.

In some cases, a finish lining - polymer coating - is applied on the finished concrete floor. It is applied in case of commercial use of the room - car wash, warehouse, production shop, refrigerator, retail space, etc. The coating is obtained durable, resistant to the effects of various chemicals.
