Epoxy primer with a wide range of applications
Epoxy resin-based product, for priming, as a leveling compound, and as a material for preparation of mortars and poured floors that can withstand heavy loads.
The base should be load-bearing, durable and resistant to deformation, free of separating particles, dust, oils, grease, products of rubber wear and other substances that prevent adhesion. Tensile strength of the base surface should average 1.5N/mm2, compressive strength is not less than 25N/mm2.
Surfaces should have an equilibrium moisture content:
- concrete max. 4%
- cement screeds max. 4%
The base should be protected against the moisture ingress from the opposite direction (negative moisture).
Through appropriate measures, prepare the base so that it meets the required qualities (shot blasting, diamond grinding).
Add hardener B to the main component A. Stir intensively, pour the mixture into another container and stir properly again. When preparing epoxy resin filled mixtures add the appropriate amount of filler while stirring slowly.
At a temperature of +20°C and relative humidity of 60% the mortar can be used for about 25 minutes. The material viability is reduced by higher temperatures, and is increased by lower temperatures.
Use suitable protective equipment when working.
Application:
Smooth trowel, rubber wedges, toothed rubber wedges may be used for application.
Processing temperature:
Ambient, material and base temperature should be between +8 and +30°C. Relative humidity should not exceed 80%. The base temperature should be at least 3°C above the dew point temperature.
Drying time:
At a temperature of +20 °C and a relative humidity of 60%:
- mechanical loads after 1 day
- complete hardening after 7 days
At a lower temperature it is respectively longer.
During the curing process (about 24 hours at +20°C), the applied material should be protected from moisture, otherwise adhesion problems or surface irregularities may occur.
Primer/filler:
Hauptmann Epo 320 product as a primer/filler is applied with a paint scraper. Product consumption is 0.4 - 0.6 kg/m2 depending on the surface.
Pour coating/backfill coating:
Distribute Hauptmann Epo 320 product over the surface with a toothed paint scraper at a consumption rate of 0.4 - 2 kg/m2. After laying the base coat, without waiting for drying, add 0.4-0.8 mm fraction sand on the surface until fully saturated. After the resin has cured, remove the loose sand with brushes or vacuum cleaner.
Dense epoxy mortar:
Prepare a mortar in 1:5 ratio by weight with quartz sand, then spread and smooth over the surface with a smooth trowel. Hauptmann Epo 320 consumption is about 0.4kg/m2 and 2kg/m2 of 0.2 - 0.4mm fraction sand per 1mm coat thickness.
Epoxy resin-based repair mortar:
Prepare a mortar in 1:8 ratio by weight with quartz sand, then spread and smooth over the surface with a smooth trowel. Hauptmann Epo 320 consumption of about 0.25kg/m2 and 2kg/m2 of 0.2 - 0.4mm fraction sand per 1mm coat thickness.
Working tools and possible contaminants should be cleaned immediately after operation with solvent.
All of the above tests were measured under laboratory conditions (+20 °C) and on standard shades. When working on construction sites, it is possible to obtain slightly different values.
When working indoors, the premises should be well ventilated. Due to the different absorbency of mineral substrates, impregnated areas may appear multicolored.
Epoxies lose color stability when exposed to ultraviolet light and weather conditions.
Consumption:
Product consumption averages 0.2-1.6 kg/m2.
Product storage:
Store in sealed factory packaging in cool, enclosed storage areas at a temperature of at least +8°C.
Shelf life is at least 6 months.
